Summer Reprieve

This weekend we had spectacular fall like weather in the DC metro area. The temperatures were in the low 80s and humidity was non-existent.

Saturday we headed out for a short 3 mile hike around Langley Virginia. It was on an old homestead that the state purchased in the early 1980's. The mid-point of the trail took you to a small waterfall and a shallow wading area on the Potomac river.

Later that day Greg headed out with buddies for a round of golf, and then home for a relaxing BBQ with friends. I have been using a Paula Dean marinade that is delicious. It calls for bourbon, which tenderizes the meat, and some Asian influences. As all Paula recipes it calls for brown sugar. I have been cutting the sugar in half too lessen the overly sweet taste.

Sunday was a relaxing day reading on the porch in between the sun showers. We also got our sound system set up, so our poor TV's speakers can finally die as they slowly have been. Our first movie to test the sound system was Avatar: the last air bender. Yes, an animation series for younger children that I find fun and entertaining. With the climatic drums, we also got to test the range of the sub woofer. Next test rock band and a movie with lots of whispering dialogue.
