Goodbye's

This past weekend we saw a good friend depart for specialized career training out in Texas. He should be gone for four months with little contact. This is not due to Texas being sooooo far away, but more due to the military not allowing it. Luckily his long term girlfriend and also a good friend of ours just moved their stuff closer to our haven in VA. They used to be on the other side of the beltway in Silver Spring.

Friday night was a small group of nine sitting around a table. It was Mik's choice of plans as he was the one leaving, and he wanted to play a table game. It was fun and well in Mik's style.

Saturday was the big sendoff party, with family and friends in the area. Most people came and went as the hours went on, but it was cool to look around and see the same core group. Over the past several years we have become a close knit group through dogs eating personal stuff, medical visits, life events (marriages, births, etc.), trips, homemade movies for class, and just lots of time spent together. Most of this as discussed previously is due to the time committed to the relationship and physical closeness of where we all live.

We all enjoy other friends or other events like Eagles Football with Philly folks, but in crisis our family and by choice this extend family always comes to mind.
