Vintage Virginia Wine Festival

Greg surprised me today with a birthday trip to the Vintage Virginia Wine Festival. We found a tip for next year: order tickets online to cut the line.

After we (Trina, Mik and Gertie) got our ID verified braclets, we pushed through the ticket counter and recieved our glass. While not too fancy, it provided a good give away and a uniform tasting glass for the crowds gathered.

We tried everything from sweet reds to jalepano wine. The last should be tasted in a very small sip and followed by any sort of liquid.

They tried to evacuate the grounds at one point, since tornados win against tents. The people there for the music or just because fled to cars and the safty of home. Those of us more dedicated people ran for shelter. It was funny to see people run for a craft tent and then realize there was no wine there, so bolt for another tent.

Soon a nice buzz was keeping the crowd warm and the sun appeared once more. It was interesting to see the different marketing styles - voice, label, information vs. sales, packages, etc.

Overall a fantastic event!
