Weekend in the woods

This weekend we went some friends into the Shenandoah Valley. It was one of good friend's 30th birthday (ancient I know). Friday we just went to the cabin, cooked up some ribs, jumped into the hot tub and then ran to bed.

It was a nice only partly cloudy Saturday, so we headed back to Mary's rock. It always offers a great view of the whole valley. The hour of stair masters to get there just seems like torture until you feel the breeze at your back, solid rock under you and wide open spaces of sky in front of you. Here is the group that came hiking:

It's missing the birthday boy, his wife and child who went fishing in the valley.
Sunday we headed out to the Luray Caverns. It took us an hour to make it all the way through the caves. The organ at the end seemed to be the biggest highlight, as it is the largest organ on the eastern coast.
