We went to bed listening to the icy rain slash against our windows and skylights.

We woke up to a powdery winter wonderland.
Luckily, we had the explorer ready to go. As you can see from the cars in the background, we would not have gotten far in the little Honda. Since I have yet to accrue a day off and the government was on liberal leave, we slowly drove up to the train station and into work.
The office was pretty quite with us turning on lights as we got in, but people started trickling in all day.
Driving around and seeing people skid all over the road brought back a college memory: We had walked up to Tenleytown for a quick bite to eat. Midway up the road we saw someone standing in the middle of the roadway. We started to go towards them thinking they were stuck in the snow, when we saw the huge smile and look of wonder on the gentleman's face. Taking in the diplomatic plates and the nice suit he was wearing, we quickly realized he was not in trouble, but he was in the middle of his first ever snow storm.
Just another cool experience of living here in the nation's capital.
