An empty Saturday with no plans what are we to do? Obviously go to Charlestown Races and Slots in West Virginia. A pretty quick drive and we dragged some friends along for the experience.
There has been an explosion of ad's for the place, since the approval of tables and the turn over to Hollywood Casino. We had heard mixed reviews, and figured it was time for us to check it out.
On the downside there was a stale air with years of smoke floating around. There were also only about 10 tables and all had a minimum bet of $25. Even in Vegas you can find tables for less.
On the upside there was the races. It was outdoors, so nice fresh air. It was in WV, so lots of good people watching. And as it was in WV the beers were cheap.
